Meet The Cast – Nell Teare
Restraint is a movie about Angela Burroughs, a woman trapped in suburban isolation, who has just entered a confining household as a wife and stepmother, where her needs are ignored and she doesn’t have a chance of being understood.
Having said that, the small supporting cast in the film offers a hint of the outside, functional world. They act as a glimpse of light underneath the door, a reminder of Angela’s mental exile.
Mrs. Peterson, the character who comes into direct contact with the Burroughs family more often than any other in Restraint, is played by Nell Teare. In this year alone, Nell has appeared in Ciaran: The Demon Hunter, Kin: Fallen Star, As Worlds Collide, and is currently acting in the critically acclaimed theatrical production “Almost, Maine” at the Hudson Mainstage in Los Angeles.
Mrs. Peterson, as the mother of Maddie Burroughs’s best friend, is in a unique position in the film. She’s the only adult witness to Angela’s steep dissociation from reality, and her performance is excellent.
