Adam Cushman – Writer & Director
Writer/Director/Producer Adam Cushman has published over thirty short stories and an award-winning novel CUT which was recently adapted for film and stars Hemky Madera and James Duval. His previous work includes the short film adaptation of The Whipping Club with Eric Roberts and Dying For A Donut. Adam brings over a decade of experience to the table and a dark sensibility for the macabre.
Amelia Yokel – Producer
With a foundation in DIY independent filmmaking, Amelia Yokel has directed and produced television, shorts and music videos. In 2013 she produced The Whipping Club with Adam Cushman and received the Best Short Film award at the Hollywood New Media festival. In 2014 her film Washington State Redemption was awarded Best Short Film in the Leavenworth Film Festival, located in the mountains of Washington where she was raised. In 2014 Adam and Amelia teamed up again to produce Restraint, their first feature film endeavor scheduled to release in 2015.
Jake Borowski – Producer
During & after college, Jake worked in many departments for feature films, reality television shows, and commercials. After several years as the Director of Photography for a western television series called Tales of the Frontier, Jake broke ground on his first producing project Justice For All in Spring of 2014. Fall of 2014 he teamed up with Amelia Yokel for his first feature film Restraint.
Julia Taft – Producer
Originally from Tacoma, Washington, Julia Kristine Taft has always been drawn to the arts. Eight months after relocating to Los Angeles in 2014 she co-founded BYT MEdia to produce Restraint. When the film went into production she added the title of Wardrobe Head to her resume. Julia grew up in a household that nurtured her artistic nature. She began her classical training as a vocalist at the age of six and worked in the theatre department at Bellarmine Prep where she attended high school. Julia has continuously pursued visual and performance arts including; painting, drawing, print making, singing and now filmmaking. Her maternal grandmother, Judith Power, a painter and a classically trained singer, is a great source of Julia’s inspiration.
Rosie Nakamura – Editor
Rosie is Senior Editor at hscusa.tv, a full-service production company in New York. With over 14 years of post-production industry experience, she has worked on network television projects, feature and short films, web series, music videos and promos. An accomplished filmmaker herself, her first feature documentary film, The Trick to Escape a Straitjacket, has been screening in festivals around the country. Rosie first worked with director Adam Cushman editing his first film, Dying for a Donut, and they’ve been collaborators ever since.
Rorie D. van Klaveren – Co-Producer
Rorie has worked in episodic television and feature film production for over 19 years. He began his career working on the feature films SLC Punk, The Way of The Gun and Drive Me Crazy after attending the film & music programs at the University of Utah. After relocating to Los Angeles in 2000, Rorie began working as a associate producer and production coordinator for many major Hollywood studios and networks such as 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. Television. He went on to be a part of the Oscar-Nominated film Running With Scissors, FX’s Emmy-Winning TV series Nip/Tuck and TNT’s flagship and ratings hit Rizzoli & Isles. Independent features and short films such as 4 1/4, The Introduction and Summer Solstice where he’s worked creatively as a producer and picture editor, have been selected and received numerous awards by several national and international film festivals throughout the years.
Rorie is also an accomplished musician of over 30 years having produced and recorded multiple studio albums while also having several songs placed in various television series, commercials and feature films. He’s currently the drummer for the musical group INVERTA.
Dana Ashbrook – Jeff Burroughs
A native to San Diego, Dana has been acting professionally since he was a teenager. His parents both worked in performing arts and his sisters Daphne and Taylor are working actresses as well. This strong family support system as well as his own background in theatre made for a smooth transition to television and motion pictures. Dana is best known for his role as Bobby Briggs (1990) in the series Twin Peaks, Crisis Center (1997) and as Rich Rindaldi in Dawson’s Creek (1998). This year he lends his talents to Restraint playing Jeff Burroughs, a mid-level lawyer who’s just taken a new bride in the hope that she will bring balance to his home and the life of his 9 year old daughter Maddie.
Christopher Clay Jones – Dr. Markowitz
Christopher Clay Jones, brings his unique flavor to any project. His repertoire of talents reache deep into his entrepreneurial personality. After co-executive producing the award-winning film Justice for All (2014); he was thrilled by the mastermind creation known as Restraint. Christopher plays a psychotherapist that attempts to make sense of his new and very complex patient.
